Western Sculptures by Fritz White
Winchesters for Villa

7.5" high x 9" x 5.25"
Edition: 40

Bandit or a patriot seemed to be however the wind blew when the actions of Pancho Villa were involved. Villa always needed weapons and ammunition and generally these "staples" had to be smuggled to him.

In 1957, driving from Tucson to Quymas, Mexico, I saw a man leading two burros. The burros were packed with bundles of cut hay or straw or some such of a grassy load.

Much later, while reading a little about Villa and his escapades, I thought of those burros and the cases of Winchesters that could be hidden under that innocent appearing hay.
